Um, Assessor is usually spelled with four S's, not three. "Modernizing and updating managerial techniques" - by keeping the same sorry administration you criticized during your campaign? And I'm still not sure what he thinks the Assessor can do about foreclosures. But it probably sounds great to the thousands of taxpayers facing foreclosures in Fresno County. Dictos can't seem to decide if the current Assessor is over-assessing or under-assessing property. I'm not sure how he thinks he can solve this problem since he seems to be having difficulty identifying the problem. |

2008, so Dictos is criticizing information that is four years old.

This one is pretty rich, actually. It is the Tax Collector who refuses to leave the Cobol system, and as long as she refuses, the Assessor's hands are tied. |

This is fancy talk for saying that the Assistant Assessor forgot to submit an updated fee schedule to the Board after getting the fees approved. Getting the Board of Supervisors to approve fees takes a tremendous amount of time, mostly due to the Auditor-Controller. First, the department must calculate and document the costs involved as fees must be revenue-neutral. Next, the Auditor-Controller has to audit and review these numbers, at their earliest convenience. Which usually means months. Finally, the Assessor must appear before the Board and ask for their approval for this fee. By the time this process is completed, the year is up and it is time to start the process again. Your tax dollars at work.
