The Assessor's Office desperately needs a leader, not a Perpetual Candidate.
Does anyone remember 2008, when Dictos ran against Susan Anderson for District 2 Supervisor? They left his name off on the closing of his candidate statement and he demanded a full refund.
The County Clerk offered him a prorated refund based on the missing words ($15) but he insisted upon a full refund. Are you kidding me? If this is how he plans to run his organization, the Assessor and the county are going to be up that creek sans paddle. "You made a mistake on my tax bill, so I demand a full refund!" What an ass.
And he actually sued over this - he spent $60 to file and settled for $27.
This is not what one would call fiscal responsibility. |

And then came the small claims lawsuit against the Pinedale water district. Dictos was seeking $7500 in payment for an unfinished audit. If he didn't finish, why should he be paid? If he was contracted to finish the audit, he broke that contract. And then sued for payment anyway. That shows real integrity and leadership. But it gets worse. Dictos claims he discovered "financial problems" with one of the Water District's contracts and he claims that when he questioned district officials they "did not want to hear about his findings and they yelled at him". So he quit and the district had to pay to hire someone else who completed the audit, apparently without the information that Dictos claimed he needed. If there was something irregular or questionable going on, what did he do about it besides quit and then demand payment for work he didn't do? These are our tax dollars and if he failed to report wrongdoing when he had the opportunity, why on earth would anyone trust him with a multi-million dollar budget like the Assessor? There is enough number-fudging going on there already, they don't need any help. Ethics are important, especially when dealing with tax dollars. If we can't trust you on the little things, we sure can't trust you with the big things. And this reeks. |

Dictos regularly maintains that he is the "most-qualified candidate" although the offices he chooses to run for are remarkably varied. He ran for Auditor-Controller/Tax Collector and lost to Vicki Crow. He ran for State Center Community College District Trustee and lost to Patrick Patterson. He ran for the Clovis Memorial District board and lost to William Rice. He ran again for the Clovis Memorial District board and lost to Susan Frantzich. He ran for District 2 Supervisor and lost to Susan Anderson. Now he is running for Assessor-Recorder against Carole Laval. It appears that he does not have much of a track record running against the ladies. |
