| A
review of Assessor-Recorder budgets for the past few years
shows an interesting fact - the Assistant Assessor's pay has
actually DECREASED. Is this a reflection of his
performance of his job duties? Is this some election
trick?
Since 2004, Tim's
salary has increased at least 2% each year. At least
until the 2009-2010 budget, where it decreased 11.5%,
or over $11,000.
This chart compares the
salaries of the Assessor and the Assistant Assessor to the
salary increases in Unit 12, the lowly clerical unit that does
most of the actual work in the office.
OR perhaps this is
leftover from the "salary savings" budget proposals,
where mandatory furlough hours and reduced work weeks were
required to be included in the budgets submitted.
Regardless, shame on the Board for posting unreliable budget
information as fact, shame on whoever is in charge of salary
for elected officials since Bob's pay increased above and
beyond reason (is he really worth $65 per hour?), and let's
hope that Bob's posted salary was not reduced as required,
since his pay still increased 3% as everyone else's
went down. And
no, it isn't Bob or Tim's fault that insurance costs have gone
up. BUT shame on them for accepting salary increases
that are above what their staff receives. Just because
you CAN, does not mean you SHOULD. If the County is
telling your staff that times are tight and this is all we can
afford to pay you, what a fat ego it takes to assume that you
and your buddies are exempt from sharing the burden. Although
considering the example the Board set with Navarette's 50%
salary increase ("because he's worth it!") no one
should be surprised if the rest of management is utterly
shameless in their greed. |
